Spend a day in the country learning about the culture of the Argentinean Gaucho (cowboy). Milk a cow, participate in Gaucho activities, and savor an Argentinean grill lunch.
Don Silvano is an authentic Argentinean Ranch where real agricultural-cattle work is an everyday way of life. Don Silvano opened its doors to visitors years ago, allowing them to learn about all the interesting parts of the gaucho life. The ranch is about an hour away from downtown Buenos Aires.Schedule:
10 AM: Reception in a traditional gaucho building known as "Rancho de Adobe," including empanadas (meat pies), wine, and juice.
11:30 AM: Free time to visit a museum, bakery, and several other parts of the ranch. Go horseback riding or ride around the ranch on a trailer. Watch gauchos demonstrate how they gear horses up for rides.
1 PM: Feast on grilled traditional sausages, short ribs, chicken, and a special potato salad mixed with carrots and eggs. Beverages include red or white wine, cola, sparkling water, and regular water. Dessert is ice cream and coffee.
During lunch, watch a lively folklore show with traditional singing and dancing. Afterwards, enjoy carriage rides, tractor rides, and horseback riding. The gauchos show you their creole skills including ring-races, horse mildness, and troops retail-trade.
2:30 PM: The Gauchos demonstrate further skills such as "Carreras Cuadreras," "Carrera de la Sortija," and more.
