The famous Ruta 40 runs between Bolivia (in the north) and Patagonia (in the south) and is almost 5 000km long. The portion that joins Cachi and La Poma, along Río Calchaquí, is extremely beautiful and overlooked by high mountains. Traces of Inca presence remain here.
