With its arid mineral landscape, La Puna serves as a backdrop to Iruya, a remote village clinging to the mountainside. Standing more than 2 700m above sea level, beyond a 4 000m-high pass, is the Abra del Condor. The more energetic can walk as far as the hamlet of San Isidro: superb.
