Named after an aboriginal word meaning "village in a rainforest," Kuranda features a quaint market filled with stands offering local handicrafts. It's also the site of the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, home to Australia's largest butterfly collection. Continue your tour on the Kuranda Skyrail, voted Australia's best major tourist attraction in 1997. Glide over the terrain in the Skyrail Cableway to enjoyable panoramic views, and disembark to explore the rainforest. Before returning to your hotel, stop at the award-winning Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park to learn about the fascinating culture of the ancient rainforest people.

**The Kuranda Scenic Railway will be non-operational March-late-May, 2010. During this time, alternative transport will be arranged via the Skyrail or motorcoach transfers. Tour duration depends on the location of participant's hotel. Children younger than 4 participate for free. Beginning January 1, 2006 a AUS$2 per person fuel levy will be applicable for all tours. You will be required to pay this fuel levy directly to Down Under Tours Australia on the day of your tour.
