The market town of Frohnleiten, known as the "The pearl of the Mur valley", lies halfway between Bruck an der Mur to the north and the provincial capital Graz to the south. The most attractive view of Frohnleiten and its old town centre is from near the bridge over the Mur, on the road from Graz. The gentle, rather densely wooded, hill setting is particularly attractive as it brings out the old red-brown roofscape. The area is dotted with numerous footpaths.
