Behind the walls of a prestigious-looking palace and forerunner of German Baroque, the Graz Arsenal shelters the only arms collection of its kind in the world. When arriving from the lively and busy Herrengasse, you are suddenly projected three centuries into the past, when the city was an outpost of Christendom, holding out against the Turks. There are more than 32 000 old weapons of all kinds, including spears, halberds, arquebuses, pistols, muskets or armour as if suspended in time.
