Things to see and do - Hallstatt
Leaving for Austria
Hallstatt Travel guide
Hallstatt : Michelin's recommendations
Perched on a steep slope among the Dachstein’s foothills, dropping down into a lake to which this village owes its name, Hallstatt is the very essence of romantic Austria. Its streets are so narrow that its popular annual Corpus Christi procession takes place instead upon the waters of the lake. In 1997, Hallstatt became a Unesco World Heritage Site. Don’t miss the Catholic church (Katholische Pfarrkirche) overlooking the lake, with a huge altarpiece (c 1500) by a pupil of Michael Schüler.
