It is on this pleasant hill that fighting took place on four occasions: the 25 and 29 May, as well as 13 August and 1November 1809, leading to the temporary defeat of Napoleon's troops. An uprising of Tyrol peasants had taken place thanks to Andreas Hofer's call to arms. This local hero was shot the following year and has remained a symbol of independence for the Tyrol Region. His statue and other monuments commemorate these events near the ski-jump, a reminder of more peaceful achievements.
