Silberne Kapelle Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

The Silver Chapel was built by Ferdinand II, Governor of Tyrol, in the late 16C, in order that he might rest beside his wife. It owes its name to the silver Madonna which sits imposingly on the wood altarpiece, surrounded by the symbols of the Litanies. On the left, lies the recumbent figure of Philippine Welser, Ferdinand's beloved, commoner wife. His figure lies next to hers. Both are the work of the Flemish master Alexandre Colin, who also produced part of Maximilian's Mausoleum.
