The regional museum displays Carinthia's thousand-year-old history via various objects and works through the ages, including the surprising example of the "dragon's skull", in fact from an Ice Age rhinoceros, or mosaic tiling found at Virunum. The 15C and 16C are represented by numerous works of religious art, including the outstanding St Veit altarpiece. Also, Paula di Gonzaga's bride's chests are worth seeing.
