Rattenberg
: Michelin's recommendations
Bavaria and the Tyrol used to fight over this tiny border town, which grew until the 17C, when the silver mines on which its prosperity had been based were exhausted. Today, Rattenberg is an almost perfectly preserved example of Renaissance architecture, with only two streets, intersected by alleys. Among other Tyrolean handicraft specialities, Rattenberg claims to be the "glass town" ( Glasstadt).
