The Gothic Church of St Virgil (1473), abutting the castle hillock, has outstanding external pink-marble stonework. Inside, its twin naves, separated by four columns with capitals of Antique design, are vibrant with a festive harmony of white and pink. Rich statuary, delicate stuccowork adorning the vault and elegant frescoes make up some sparkling Baroque finery executed by the finest artists of the region.
