The former capital of the Celtic Torisc tribe, then Roman city of Teurnia was found here. Excavations have revealed the existence of two residential terraces, a forum, baths and a temple devoted to the Healer god Grannus. In the 5C and 6C, the episcopal see's fortifications, church, hospice and two graveyards were built. One of the latter's churches houses a large mosaic floor, featuring animal motifs.
