It is true to say that the daring blue marble and glass architecture of the Haas-Haus tends to stand out in the heart of this old quarter. When it opened in 1990, it caused a controversy. Nowadays, this building with its reflections of the cathedral has become a more familiar site in Vienna. By following the curved lines of the area, the architect has opened up the view of St Stephen's Square. The building itself houses cafés, a restaurant and offices.
