Created in 1861 by the union of two artists’ societies, this remains the premises of an association of artists. Built along the lines of a small Italian Renaissance palace, the original Künstlerhaus (today usually known as K/haus) was extended in the Ringstraße style in 1882. After 1945 it was adapted to become an exhibition venue. Of particular note are its architecture, its thematic interdisciplinary exhibitions, its international links, and its members’ shows.
