The Viennese Forest, the last part of the secondary range of the Alps ending above the Danube, is a fine backdrop to Vienna. There is an extensive view from the top of the Kahlenberg (483m) and from the Leopoldsberg (423m). On a fine day, you can see the Little Carpathians in Slovakia and the slopes falling away towards the Hungarian frontier. On the platform is a relief map of Vienna in 1683, giving visitors an idea of what the city looked like when besieged by the Turks.
