At one end of the Kohlmarkt, on St Michael's Square, Michaelertrakt, the semicircular St Michael's Wing of the Hofburg dates from 1888-1893. Two monumental fountains emphasise the grandeur of the building. The dome covering the roof is one of Vienna's most famous sights. Through the Michaelertor gateway is a round vestibule leading to the Palace apartments and various collections.
