The Town Museum occupies a superb building, with a fine arcaded courtyard, whose architecture is marked by the traces of successive styles throughout the ages. Note the uneven entrance hall paving stones, the only ones of their type left in Villach and very fine Gothic paintings by Thomas von Villach (about 1500). The big 16C-19C iron chests are particularly unusual.
