If the façade, where a Gothic porch-belfry is flanked by two onion-capped Baroque towers, surprises visitors to the popular pilgrimage church of Mariazell, then they will be amazed by the dazzling interior. Apart from the glittering Chapel of Mercy, the "Baroquized" Gothic nave houses a series of chapels and a gallery with large windows. The monumental East Nave, crowned with a dome, leads to a majestic high altar. Finally, the basilica's treasury displays some extraordinary embroidery.
