A tributary of the Inn, this river runs through a deep valley for 50km, past the forbidding defiles of the bubbling Ache dominanted by conifers and on to green fertile bowls. The Alps (Ötztaler Alpen) have the northern Tyrol’s highest point at Wildspitze (3 774m). Other notable features include Austria’s highest parish (Obergurgl 1 930m), highest farms (at Rofen, near Vent, 2 014m) and one of its prettiest waterfalls, the Stuibenfall!
