Running along the left of Gümnaasiumi (and the two successive streets Kooli and Laboratooriumi) is a long section of the medieval ramparts which once encircled the lower town. In total 1.8km of walls survive, together with around 20 of the 46 towers that punctuated it. Three of them may be visited; Sauna torn, Kuldjala torn and Nunna torn.
