Dominating the town, Cathedral Hill is a haven of peace. Bearing witness to the ravages of history, the fine brick ruins of the cathedral stand in the middle of a park, the ideal spot for a romantic stroll. A restored section of the building now houses the University of Tartu. Visitors may encounter a professor or two in the university history museum (in the chancel, rebuilt in the early 19C).
