Võru
: Michelin's recommendations
Võru has a special place in the hearts of all Estonians since it was here in the 19C that the famous epic poem Kalevipoeg was written. Its author, Friedrich Reinhold Kreutzwald, spent the last 50 years of his life in this peaceful town of straight boulevards which will always be associated with the M/S Estonia ferry disaster, in which 17 of Võru’s inhabitants died. Head south from here into a splendid landscape of lakes and forests.
