Two hours by boat from Haapsalu, Hiiumaa is Estonia’s second largest island. Taking the road round the island anti-clockwise, visitors will first reach the village of Lõpe (farm museum), before reaching Kärdla, the main town. Hiiumaa has two peninsulas, Tahkuna (to the north) and Kõpu (to the west), each of which has a lighthouse. To the east lies the island of Kassari, popular with swimmers.
