An unmissable atraction, this museum has nearly a million objects, tracing the nation’s history from its origins to the Soviet era. There is so much to see, it is hard to focus on any one object: archaeological finds from 9000BC; a rich collection of medals and objects; books, photos, postcards, paintings, tools, musical instruments, jewellery, ceramics, everyday items, costumes and religious art including some fine carved woodwork.
