Behind its concrete colonnade, the rear section of the military museum houses an exhibition of art, applied arts and folk art from the 16C to the 20C, including fine ceramics, pictures by Sklerius (everyday scenes from c 1920) and Alexandraviciaus. The modern annexe (2003), a striking virtual cube, houses works by the national genius and polymath (although primarily known as an abstract and romantic painter) M. K. Ciurlionis (1875-1911).
