It was from this fine recently restored building that Lithuania was governed between 1920 and 1939, while Vilnius was in Polish hands. The exhibition and décor take visitors back to that period; furniture, pictures and objects belonging to various presidents (whose statues stand in the park). The black and white photos of visits by foreign dignitaries contextualise the 1920s outfits on display. One room is given over to gifts presented to the presidents.
