This street is pleasantly animated by artisans’ workshops (visitors may observe them in action – ask at the tourist office), yet it has a tragic history in the dark annals of Jewish persecution. Along with surrounding streets – note their names – it formed the Jewish Little Ghetto, the destruction of which in the Second World War is attested to today by a kind of no-man’s land.
