Bird watching
The best-known bird-watching spots are in the Niémen delta, Curonian Spit and the wooded banks of the lakes of Aukštaitija (birds of prey). www.birdwatching.lt
Excursions
Bicycling – Lithuania is quite flat which is ideal for bicycling excursions. www.bicycle.lt
Hiking – The low-lying national and regional parks are home to many signposted paths.
Horse riding – There is no lack of stud farms or horse trails in nature parks and tourist regions.
Saunas
Saunas, called pirtis, are an integral part of everyday life in Lithuania and people go to them to bathe, relax and chat. An invitation to take part in this activity is an honour and it would be unseemly to refuse.
Water sports
Canoe, kayak, rafting – In summertime, the peaceful lakes and rivers are ideal for water sports. In April-May, after the snow has melted, the water is faster flowing.
Sailing – www.lbs.lt and www.balticsail.info
Swimming – The Baltic Sea reaches between 16° and 22°C in summer. www.blueflag.org
Winter sports
Skiing, sledging, snowmobiles, horse-drawn sleighs, ice fishing, ice yachting, bobsleighing, and of course, ice hockey and skating.
