Bastogne : Michelin's recommendations

Bastogne nestles on the Ardennes plateau at an altitude of 515 m. The former stronghold only retains the Trier Gate and a 14C tower. Its fortifications were razed by Louis XIV's troops in 1688. Each main road leading into Bastogne has tank gun turrets marking the limits where the Germans surrounded the town in 1944. Bastogne has been famous for centuries for its Ardennes ham and walnuts.
