This great memorial to American soldiers who died in the Battle of the Bulge was erected on a hill in 1950, near the final milestone of the Freedom Road. It is shaped as a five-pointed star and at each point a viewing table indicates the main phases of the battle. The names of the various battalions and the story of the battle are engraved on the monument. From the terrace at the top, there is a panoramic view of Bastogne and the surrounding area. The crypt was decorated by Fernand Léger.
