Cuisine fish and seafood

Lunch 45€ - Menu: 75€/ 110€ - Carte: 82€/94€ A particularly interesting wine list

Elegantly discreet and low-key, this handsome bourgeois home is sheltered from the town centre by the lush green Graaf Visartpark. The chef specialises in highly contemporary dishes, in which fish and seafood take pride of place.

      Pros

I had to celebrate. We were satisfied and impressed. I used to professionally review restaurants in my youth and I am preposterous enough to say I can rate a restaurant dish by dish and challenge cooks and chefs on their preparations. This one is above the average; materials are very good, selection of ingredient is intelligent and the manufacture sometimes impeccable although the composition of the menu maybe sticks to a vision of nouvelle cuisine that is for many out of fashion. We got the large degustation menu going for 99 Euros plus a 50 Euros for the accompanying wines. These were appropriate and honest. A good research and some good surprises. So, do not expect miracles: should the chef be a saint he would have been rated 3 stars and not just one. Is a good place to eat very good. And consider that a 9 course menu plus several appetizers at some 10 Euros per serving and enough glasses of wine for 50 in such a situation is even cheap. Or, at least, good value for money. If unhappy, try the average tourist favorites off the fish market – a couple are reasonably good, but you’ll spend anyway 40 to 60% of what you spend here for a refreshing experience.
