The statue that stands on St John Nepocumene Bridge (St-Nepomucenusbrug) is that of the protector of the bridges of Bruges, which are so important in this city. At the end of this embankment, which is lined with pretty lime trees, you will discover, on your left, a lovely view over the old bridge, the porch of the Gruuthuse Museum and, in the background, the tower of Notre-Dame Church with its impressive steeple. The traditional flea market is held here on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
