The Church of St Walburge is in a fine Baroque style that contrasts with the Gothic or neo-Gothic buildings in the city. It was built by Pieter Huyssens in 1643 and was originally dedicated to St François Xavier, whose statue stands on the still quite sobre façade. The white Baroque interior is more exuberant. You will admire a marble communion bench by H Verbrugghe, a 17C pulpit and a Rocaille style rood screen.
