Begin your tour by visiting Our Lady's Church, which boasts a mix of architectural styles and the highest tower in the city. Take in the touching beauty of the Madonna statue by Michelangelo before wandering over to the splendid tombstones of Mary of Burgundy, who reigned over the Low Countries in the second half of the 15th century. Then wander through the pedestrianised Market Square, dominated by the extravagant belfry tower and once the centre for medieval trade. You can take an optional boat tour along the canals or spend your free time exploring on your own.
