Traditionally baked for Advent and Christmas in Germany, Belgium, Holland and northern France, speculoos are exceptional biscuits for tea-time as well as for dessert, when they may be served with ice cream or fruit salad.
Genuine, traditionally crafted speculoos are 100 % natural, made from flour, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, eggs and cloves without additives or preservatives.
Located in the heart of Brussels, the Dandoy family bakery is easy to spot thanks to its magnificent art nouveau window. Founded in 1929, this Belgian institution produces exceptional speculoos in its ateliers, often using traditional wooden moulds - their Saint Nicks are marvellous.
Dandoy is also famous for pain à la grecque (a typical Brussels treat despite the Greek name), almond bread, macaroons, Earl Grey biscuits, old-fashioned gingerbread, raisin cake, waffles from Brussels or Liege, etc. Christmas biscuits with a Belgian twist!
