Diksmuide : Michelin's recommendations
Dixmuide was a port on the Yser and a cloth-making town in the Middle Ages. It was destroyed in 1914, bombed in 1940, then rebuilt in the Flemish style. The town was a strategic point in the Battle of the Yser and its name is tied to the memory of the Belgian soldiers and French marines under Admiral Ronarc'h who put up heroic resistance against forces outnumbering them from 16 October to 10 November 1914.
