Leaving for Belgium
Gembloux Travel guide
Gembloux : Michelin's recommendations
Gembloux, an agronomic and horticultural centre, was famous for its 10C Benedictine abbey. It had acquired great cultural influence and the monk Sigebert, who died in 1112, left an important Universal Chronicle covering the period from 381 to 1111. The abbey estate was abolished during the French Revolution and since 1860 has been occupied by an agronomics college. The town still retains vestiges of its 12C ramparts.
