This former Cistercian abbey was founded in the 13C. This set of brick buildings dates from the 14C to 18C. The rooms overlooking the cloister are furnished in various styles and illustrate life in Ghent from the Middle Ages to the French Revolution. Note the superb coffered vault and frescoes (Last Supper) in the 14C first-floor refectory. The former dormitory has magnificent 18C carved wooden torchères. In the old abbey is a municipal museum.
