This museum is sited in a magnificent restored builing with elements from the 17C and 19C. It deals with Hasselt’s history thematically: birth and evolution of the town, links with Herkenrode abbey, art and culture, gin, ceramics, famous residents like little St Peter and Langeman the giant (who would come out once every seven years), and Hasselt’s inhabitants today. A marked route has been laid out to appeal to younger visitors.
