Since 1971 the Hautes Fagnes Nature Reserve has been part of this park, which also includes the Robertville, Bügenbach, Gileppe and Eupen lakes, and the Our and Eifel valleys. It ajoins the German Nordeifel Nature Park. Together they form the Deutsch-Belgischer Naturpark, covering an area of 2 400km² (700km² in Belgium) and joining the Germano-Luxembourgeois Nature Park to the south.
