This pleasant squre is lined with many cafés and restaurants. Here you will see the Fountain of Tradition (1719) and the lovely 18C Town Hall, or La Violette, with its lovely rear façade. But the main monument on the square is the "Perron", the most famous of its type in Belgium. Initially an eblem of episcopal jurisdiction, the Perron became the symbol of communal freedom.
