The Amblève springs up in the Hautes Fagnes-Eifel Nature Park. At first, erratic and rural, the river cuts out a wide V-shaped valley further downstream, forming large meanders between green, sloping banks.

A small bridge under the railway line enables to reach the banks of the Amblève on foot. Here, the river rushes down, bubbling over big boulders of hard quartz that have broken away from the rocky surroundings.

Follow the Ninglinspo torrent on foot to reach the Chaudière, a reddish-stone basin into which two small waterfalls flow. Montjardin Castle is perched on the left, amid greenery overlooking the river, before going under the Remouchamps viaduct.
