Oudenaarde : Michelin's recommendations
Built on the banks of the River Escaut where Flanders meets Brabant, the charming Flemish town of Oudenaarde is rich in history and monuments. Around 1605, the landscape painter Adriaen Brouwern (a contemporary of Rubens) was born here; his pictures are reminiscent of the work of Bruegel the Elder. These days Oudenaarde is mainly known for its beer and its textile manufacturing industry.
