The well-maintained, rose and rhododendron adorned site contains the graves of 7 989 Americans who died in the Ardennes or Germany in 1944-45. White marble crosses or headstones carved with the Star of David are laid out on slightly-sloping lawns and in arcs of circles converging on the memorial. It houses a small museum with the story and maps of the end of the American campaign. There is a panoramic view of the plateau from the terrace opposite the cemetery.
