The setting is remarkable: the national Natural History Museum is housed in the 14C St-Jean hospice in the old Grund district, a Unesco World Heritage Site. The hospice was originally a mental asylum and orphanage and was turned into a women's prison in the 19C. With interactive displays, information panels and naturalised animals, the museum addresses the complexities of the human body, from intra-uterine life to the relationship between man and beast and the place of humans in the world.
