The 16th century cross has replaced the cross erected in the Middle Ages as a symbol of the rights acquired by the town - new laws, market status and becoming a "ville franche" (an exemption from taxes). Here you can see statues of the virgin and St. John Nepomucene, who is believed to have saved the town from fire.
