Although Fortaleza is not worth visiting on account of its architecture, its festive ambience and the beauty of its coast on the other hand are real draws. Enjoy the lively bars in the evening, dance to the sound of the forró, sample the lobster, taste the feijão de corda and admire the local crafts, in particular the basketwork and lace. It is best to avoid bathing in the city, but just a few tens of miles away lie small fishing villages and sublime beaches: Canooa Quebrada to the east, Cambuco and Logoinha to the west.
