Although Foz do Igaçu flourished thanks to the construction of the Itaipu Dam in 1975, one of the largest in the world, its fame is down to the Iguaçu Falls, located on the border of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this immense 2 800m-long waterfall can be admired on foot, by boat or from a helicopter. It is now part of the Parque Nacional do Iguaçu, a national park covering more than 200 000ha and boasting an incomparable wealth of flora and fauna.
