Unlike Glória, Catete and Botafogo, Flamengo has retained all of its former elegance and the buildings on the seafront, at Praia Flamengo, are still very sought after. The creation of the tunnel to Copacabana has, however, cost it its central position and some of Rio's smart set have moved on.
